Questions
Is my PDF uploaded?
Yes. Unlike most Aakaar tools, Digital Publisher stores your PDF so that other people can read it. It is kept in private storage and only you can download it. Readers are shown page images prepared in your browser and are never sent the PDF. Private publications are visible only to you.
What are the limits?
A PDF can be up to 50 MB and 50 pages. Under 20 MB is recommended. Encrypted or damaged PDFs are rejected with a message.
Who can see my publication?
Public publications can be found and indexed, unlisted ones only by people who have the link, and private ones only by you. You can also add a password. Unlisted links are not secret: anyone who has the link can open it.
Can readers download my PDF?
Only if you switch on Allow download for that publication, and it is off by default. When it is off, readers cannot get the PDF file from the reader or from storage. They can still take screenshots of what they can see, so do not publish files you must keep confidential.
What if my PDF is over the size limit?
Digital Publisher can compress it in your browser, after asking you. Pages are re-saved as compressed images and the text stays searchable. You see the before and after sizes first, and your original file is not changed.
Does search work on scanned pages?
Yes, if you tick OCR when you upload. It uses the same text recognition as PDF Studio, runs on your device, and is slow, so it is off by default.
Do I need an account?
Yes, a free Aakaar account, so that your publications are yours to edit, unpublish and delete.
